The Advanced Photon Research Center and Department of Administrative Services,
Kansai Research Establishment are located south of Kansai Science City on the Keihanna hills,
at the boundary of Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara Prefectures. In this area there are many other
organizations for advanced research such as the Advanced Telecommunications Research
Institute and Nara Institute of Science and Technology. Construction of Kansai-kan of
the National Diet Library（provisional name）is now going on. The Advanced Photon Research Center is blessed with the many historical sites of Nara and Kyoto, like Horyu-ji Temple that was given World Heritage status for the first time in Japan.
